[ XXIII UIA World Congress of Architecture TORINO 2008 ]
The Jury of the Competition TOTEM, composed of Magda Hosam Eldin Mostafa (Egypt), Wolf Tochterman (Germany), Jose Luis Cortes (Mexico) and Yang Yi (China), has met on 11-12 April in Torino and examined 435 projects (105 for info-ecology, 231 for info-metropolis and 99 for info-poverty), coming from 34 countries, and awarded the prizes. This ideas competition, in a single stage, is organised in the framework of the UIA Congress Turin 2008. Based on the congress theme, Transmitting architecture, competitors are invited to design a TOTEM, an architectural object for communication, information and exchange to be located in one of the following three types of environment: a social context: poverty; a natural context: ecology; an urban context: metropolis.
The competition procedure will be run entirely on internet (see the Calendar on the right for the opening and closing dates). Students of architecture worldwide attending a school recognised by the UIA member section in their country are invited to take part by submitting a proposal online. The competition documents, programme and regulations may be downloaded in the Documents section of this site.
Registration takes place at the same time as the electronic transmission of the project, one file in pdf format on the competition web site (see the Calendar on the right for the opening and closing dates). In order to reduce the possibility of system congestion, participant are requested, in so far as possible, to activate the procedure for registration and transmission of documents in advance to the deadline.
The competition language is English. There is no registration fee.
